The committee approved the minutes as an accurate record of the meeting. The
Chair signed the record copy.

3. Matters arising from the minutes of the meeting of 13th October 2007.
No matters arising.

4. Reports of Officers.
• General Secretary
Branch News:
Following very positive responses from individuals at the BFFI we have
prospective new branches at:
• Bristol City
• Llanidloes
• Wigan
• Leicester

The first two are already in communication with their neighbouring branch
and ready to hold the inaugural meeting.
Insurance policy:
Jerry Lee reported that he had been looking into the insurance cover
offered by the Guild, and as such has received an alternative quotation
from a company called Mead Insurance. Although first impressions
looked as though it might offer a better cover, unfortunately it depends on
the number of members. Current numbers would increase the current
premium by over £600.00 if we were to switch. He proposed that we stay
with the current provider and review when we receive next years premium
in Feb 2008.

Big Fish competition:
No further entries to date.

• Treasurer.
Alan Middleton presented a report on the current financial situation. The
meeting noted the problems associated with the increased usage of the web
to receive payments and identify individual payments on the bank
statements.

• Membership Secretary and Web site Manager:
Ian Fazakerley provided his report in the address to the AGM prior to the
meeting with no further comments or items.

• Editor and Advertising Manager.
Terry Griffith reported that at the time of the meeting he was still waiting
on a Royal Mail delivery with the Winter 2007 issue proofs, they are three
days in transit!
The magazine was due at the printer the day of the meeting, it will now go
over the weekend, he has apologised to the printer

• Merchandising Manager.
Peter Watson reported a typical couple of months since the last meeting
with nothing out of the ordinary happening sales wise.
Sales at the BFFI were good, but not spectacular; the first day was by far
the best. “Web” orders are somewhere around half the orders that are now
processed, members are obviously getting used to “shopping on-line”
He reported that he has depleted the stock of Medium sized Fishing Shirts
and have asked for this size to be removed from the On-Line ordering
form, he requested that the Web Master attend to this and also now remove
the large size – as there is only two left in stock.
Peter reported that he will also get an image of the Embroidered Cap so
that this can go up on the “Web”. This again was quite popular item at the
BFFI, and if we don’t tell members about it we will not move many until
the next “show”.
Finally, he reported that he still has to prepare and send a copy of the
Christmas Sales Order From to the Chairman for inclusion in the next copy
of the Flydresser – in the hope of a run of sales leading up to Christmas.

• Fly Dressing Competition Secretary.
Richard Vipond provided his report in the address to the AGM prior to the
meeting with no further comments or items.

• Fishing Competition Secretary.
Dave Bartle provided his report in the address to the AGM prior to the
meeting with no further comments or items.

space requirements and will go back to the CLA with a detailed proposal
for the tying village.

6. BFFI Forum
All that were present agreed that the members forum at the BFFI, was a great
success, and should potentially be repeated at next years event.
Jerry Lee advised the committee that he had received an email from one member
present, generally supportive of the initiative, however expressing concern that
some members of the Executive had found a number of items of discussion
humorous. None of the officers could remember such an incident.
It was agreed that the summary of returned questionnaire and forum comments
should be published on the Guild web site.

7. Strategic Planning for the Future.
It was agreed by the committee that for each subsequent Executive Committee
meeting an agenda item will be set of one specific strategic objective. Officers
