10th November 2009
The Thames Valley Branch of the FDG is a small branch based near Henley on Thames. We have a winter tying programme. This is hands on tying around the table in the pub where we meet – there is a demonstrator and help with tying. We have an all year round fishing programme with days out and evening trips
Where and when do you meet?
We meet at the Flower Pot Inn at Aston (near to Henley-on-Thames) on the first and last Thursday of the month at 7.30pm.

What is the format of your meetings?
Attached is our programme which runs from September to September each year. The tying and fishing activities are selected from the various requests and suggestions of the members. The programme varies each year.
Our winter activities are tying specific flies each meeting with a few Grayling fishing trips. In the summer we meet at local stillwaters for an evening’s fishing and have occasional day fishing trips to a reservoir or sea fishing at weekends. At our AGM we have an annual fly tying competition.

Our resident Instructor demonstrates the fly on the programme and then members tie their own versions assisted as required. These sessions are relaxed and informal.
What is the ethos of the branch?
We are a small branch with a friendly meeting atmosphere blending instruction with a social evening. We tie flies for fishing as well as for competition. Our day trips are relaxed affairs.
We are keen to increase our membership and would love both novice and experienced fly tiers to come along regularly.
How do I find out more?
The best way is to come along to one of our meetings – these are on the first and last Thursday of the month. Please get a copy of the programme from sre868@tiscali.co.uk or peter.watson@taylorwoodrow.com
We hope to see you soon
