fly tying competition 2007
The fly patterns named and described are intended to be representative of the types only, for the purpose of this competition alone, and in no way to be the definitive original patterns or otherwise the named variants of them. Where a specified material is difficult or illegal to obtain an appropriate substitute or alternative will be accepted by the judges.The skill and judgement of entrants in interpreting the patterns as stated is part of the competition.
A pair of flies is required for each class; substitute materials are permitted. Previous winners or runners up of the Open competitions can only enter the Prizewinners class (along with dry fly and saltwater/pike class). The same pattern is listed for both novice and junior classes though separate prizes will be awarded please mark you entry accordingly. Any queries can be raised via the forum or via the Secretary (secretary@the-fdg.org).
Entries must be clearly marked with the member's name, address, membership number and class and be forwarded to The Secretary, 73 Coopers Green, Bicester, OXON, OX26 4XJ by 1st April 2008.
They should be suitably mounted to avoid damage in transit. Entries will become the property of the Guild, for sale for the Guild benefit at Game fairs etc., but will be returned if asked for and the return postage cost is sent with the entry.
